All about Exotic fruit.

The questions we get asked most often, and our straight answers.

☀️ How are our exotic fruits from Spain grown?

We are very happy to have been working with Iulian Pescara and his family since 2022, Romanian fruit growers who take care of organic plots on the Costa Tropical in Andalusia, specifically in the province of Granada, in Salobreña. Two generations have worked on these lands to cultivate fields of avocados, papayas, mangoes, pomegranates, passion fruits, and cherimoyas organically.

Biovie was their first major customer. They started from scratch with the infrastructures in 2018, and today they rent a warehouse and respond to numerous requests to take care of abandoned plots, as their family know-how is so valuable in the region...

The fruits are enhanced by the sun of southern Spain, harvested at physiological ripeness, and not subjected to refrigeration before delivery.

☀️ What are the benefits of exotic fruits?
❄️ Why eat freeze-dried fruits?

🥭 In our store, you will find various types of freeze-dried fruits: Bananas, Mangoes, Pineapples, and many other fruits that you might discover for the first time, such as Durian or Jackfruit. Enjoy the taste and benefits of your favorite fruits even out of season, all year round!

🥭 Here are the main reasons why freeze-dried fruits are highly appreciated:

> Optimal Nutrient Preservation: The freeze-drying process is the only process that preserves almost all heat-sensitive nutrients because this process is done cold: phytonutrients, probiotics, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals in the fruits are retained. So, you can absorb many nutrients by consuming freeze-dried fruits, whose nutritional value is incomparable to commercially available fruits dried at over 45°C.

> Taste and Texture: Freeze-drying preserves the aroma, color, and natural taste of the fruits, making them a delicious and enjoyable snack with a firm texture for adults and children. Freeze-dried exotic fruits look just like fresh fruits, they are very crispy and offer a very pleasant taste experience. To compare it with something familiar, it's a bit like a plant-based meringue!

> Extended Shelf Life and Easy Portability: Freeze-dried fruits can be easily stored for months or even years without spoiling or needing refrigeration. Since all the water has been sublimated, these fruits are very light, compact, and easy to transport. Ideal for travel, camping, outdoor activities, as a healthy alternative to sweets (kids love them), snacks, on the plane, on the bike, or scooter... They are not fragile at all and not prone to bruising or damage like fresh fruits. The only obligation is to seal the bag well after use to prevent them from absorbing moisture.

> Fruit Variety: Freeze-dried fruits offer a wide selection. The advantage of choosing tropical fruits is that they are freeze-dried after ripening in their country of origin, and their nutrient content is higher than fruits harvested before ripening and transported to Europe.

❄️ Do freeze-dried fruits contain vitamins?

> The process of freeze-drying involves quickly freezing the fruits at very low temperatures and then dehydrating them under vacuum by removing the water through sublimation (that is, it goes directly from the solid to the gaseous state without passing through the liquid intermediate state). No heat is used, which allows the fruits to retain most of their vitamins and nutrients during the freeze-drying process.

> Freeze-dried fruits are generally a good source of vitamins, especially vitamin C and some B vitamins. For example, freeze-dried fruits like strawberries, berries, and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, which is a strong antioxidant. Freeze-dried fruits can also contain vitamins A, E, and K, which varies depending on the type of fresh fruit.
Fruits from tropical regions are known for their high content of vitamin C and carotenoids.
