🤍 The cherimoya (or chirimoya) has a creamy, sweet white flesh reminiscent of ice cream! It is eaten directly with a spoon, after removing the few large visible black seeds. Its taste is completely unique, and it is considered by many as one of the best fruits in the world.

Harvested at physiological maturity by our new partner Iulian located on the Spanish Tropical Coast.
To withstand transport, the fruits are delivered still firm and will be ready to eat a few days after receipt.

They are ripe when they become slightly soft to the touch (like an avocado). Once ripe, you can store them in the fridge for a week.
Storage: a few days at room temperature until ripening. Once ripe (slightly soft flesh): 7 days in the fridge.

🤍 The benefits of cherimoya:

1- Full of energy: Cherimoya contains 18% carbohydrates, almost as much as a banana. Its energy intake of 75 kcal per 100 g makes this fruit a good energy booster, ideal for a snack or after exercise. Add a few slices of this magical fruit to your lunch dish, and enjoy it during your workout!

2 – Vitamin C: It contains 3 times more than an apple, for example! This vitamin is a true natural antioxidant capable of trapping free radicals responsible for cellular aging. It also helps support your immune system during winter.

3 – Better intestinal transit: With its high fiber density, cherimoya activates the digestive system and helps reduce discomforts such as constipation.

4- Potassium and magnesium: Our current eating habits are generally deficient in magnesium (30% to 50% below recommended intakes), leading to general fatigue. It is interesting to know that this fruit is recommended if that's your case! Potassium, on the other hand, regulates acid-base balance, is involved in muscle contractions, and limits the risk of hypertension.

5 - Vitamin B6 and calcium: B6 is essential for the action of many enzymes involved in the metabolism of proteins and amino acids, essential especially for the nervous and skin systems. Calcium, on the other hand, is well known for its actions on bones, and it is interesting to know its sources when you consume little or no traditional dairy products.

6 - A good friend for future moms: Rich in vitamins, minerals, and fibers, cherimoya is recommended during pregnancy. It would reduce mood swings and alleviate early nausea while protecting the fetus's immune system.

Direct Supply Chain Andalusia

We can't get more direct from this producer in Spain in Granada! Iulian Perseca took over the family business in 2018. Two generations have succeeded in cultivating various fields of avocados, mangoes, pomegranates and other local and seasonal exotic fruits, all of excellent quality and enhanced by the southern Spanish sun.

Organic fruit partnership

Cherimoyas are packaged in 4.5-kilo boxes, with recycled cardboard padding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my cherimoya is ripe?

To the touch, like an avocado: the flesh should yield slightly under gentle thumb pressure, without being mushy or collapsing. As long as it is firm, leave it at room temperature for a few days. Once ripe, store it in the refrigerator, where it keeps for about 7 days.

Can you eat the skin and seeds of cherimoya?

No: only the white flesh is edible. The skin is not eaten, and the large black seeds should be removed with a spoon as you eat, without biting or swallowing them. It's a simple gesture, the same as for many exotic fruits with seeds.

How to enjoy a cherimoya?

The simplest way: cut it in half and enjoy the flesh directly with a spoon, removing the seeds as you go - a bit like a kiwi or an avocado. Its creamy texture, similar to ice cream or custard, also makes it an excellent ingredient for a smoothie or raw dessert.

What is the cherimoya season in Spain?

The chirimoya from the Costa Tropical of Granada-Malaga, the only region in Europe to produce it on this scale and protected by a designation of origin (DOP), is mainly harvested from November to April, with the harvest being entirely manual. It is an autumn and winter season, unlike most summer fruits in our catalog.

How many cherimoyas in a 4.5 kg box?

About 10 to 15 fruits, with an average weight around 250 g depending on the harvest calibers (fruits can range from 200 g to 500 g). We do not sort by caliber: the box is shipped as it comes from the orchard.

Is cherimoya suitable for pregnant women?

Rich in vitamins, minerals, and fibers, cherimoya is generally well tolerated during pregnancy, as part of a varied and balanced diet. As with any food, if in doubt or with particular pathology, seek advice from your doctor or midwife.
