    Freeze-dried, ripe-picked durian, Monthong variety

We are pleased to offer you this famous exotic fruit with a powerful smell, which you may have already encountered fresh in Asian stores, the Monthong durian from Southeast Asia (Durio zibethinus). The fruit comes from a tropical tree resembling our temperate chestnut trees, with a thick shell, actually a spiky shell, and it has the size and oblong shape of a rugby ball or the round shape of a soccer ball. It indeed resembles a sort of giant chestnut. But unlike chestnuts, it only grows in tropical regions because it cannot withstand temperatures below 18°C, and understandably so.

In our case, it is harvested at maturity in Thailand in the province of Chanthaburi, its production cradle, and freeze-dried into small pieces in a resealable 200g pouch.

❄️ Here are the principles of the Freeze-drying explained by Miguel Barthelery:

    > This technique, which appeared in France at the beginning of the 20th century, dries food through sublimation: the product is first frozen, then its water is evaporated under vacuum. Thus, the water goes directly from a solid to a gaseous state without passing through the liquid state! Because there is no heat involved, freeze-drying preserves the volume, appearance, and all the benefits of the food.

    > It is said that the durian from Thailand is the best in the world. The Monthong is the most popular variety in Thailand and around the world in general. This famous quality is known for its irregular shape, large size, and pale yellow creamy flesh that is slightly sweet.
This Asian fruit with a powerful taste is quite astonishing; its nauseating odor is so strong that it is banned in hotels, elevators, public transportation, and public places in Thailand!

    > When walking down the street, its strong smell makes it noticeable from more than 100 meters away when it's sold at local markets. Don't be fooled by appearances, the durian is fully part of the edible fruits and is simply delicious. It is by far our best seller in freeze-dried fruits, and one of our bestsellers on the Biovie store for years.

    Durian, le fruit interdit

The durian is considered the king of fruits in Asia, its fruity custard-like taste is inimitable and it very advantageously replaces candies for children. We have worked on this project for over a year, and this fruit, common in Asia, is offered here as an exclusive in Europe.

    Discover its surprising taste !

Durian is a real treat for the taste buds! As a source of carbohydrates, it provides energy and vitality to your body. Its glycemic index is, however, lower than that of a banana, for example, thanks to the presence of fibers. Interestingly, it is one of the few fruits containing the most lipids.

Its main asset lies in its high potassium content. Potassium acts on the nervous transmission system and muscle contraction. It is therefore important for a healthy heart.

The durian is also composed of magnesium and copper.

    Live from Thailand

Thailand is the best region for growing durian. It is the number one producer country. We have visited our supplier, an international leader in this field, several times already.

The trees are grown in a traditional manner because they require very special care. Since the fruits are very heavy, the branches need to be closely monitored to prevent them from breaking and supported if necessary with stakes. The soil also receives special attention and must be covered to remain constantly moist. Everything is done with human intervention.

The fruits are certified "pesticide residue-free" simply because there is no need for them during cultivation.

    Packaging: 200g resealable kraft pouch.

Storage method: Keep in a dry place. Once opened, the durian may absorb some moisture and become less crunchy over time.
