Organic ginger slices - low temperature dried
Dried sliced ginger, raw and organic quality, 200 g
Dried sliced ginger from organic farming
Biovie's organic dried sliced ginger is a root of Zingiber officinale harvested in Madagascar, dried at low temperature (40°C) to preserve its aromas, and sold with no additives or added sugar. Traceable back to the producer Floribis, it is just as suited to infusions as to cooking, and can be ground as needed for maximum freshness.
Ginger is a rhizome from the family Zingiberaceae, used mainly in cooking for its pungent, invigorating, lemony and distinctive flavour. It goes into many spice blends and is now widespread in our European culinary world.
🫚 Slices for better keeping
We offer this organic ginger in "slice" format:
this unusual format preserves the aromas for longer than ground ginger. You can grind it at the very last moment and enjoy the freshness and power of its aroma instantly - allow, for example, 2 to 3 slices, i.e. around 3 to 5 g, for a cup of infusion. The slices can also be infused, in a cup of hot water as in a sauce or a stock, in an oil, etc. You can then fish them out: it is far more practical than with powder! And if you prefer a format ready to sprinkle straight into your dishes, we also offer our organic dehydrated raw ginger powder - the two formats complement each other depending on how you use them.
The ginger is dried at low temperature (40°C) to preserve its aromas.
🫚 Our recipe ideas with sliced ginger
For inspiration, find on our blog recipes that use precisely this dried slice format: our ginger and lemon water, where the slices are infused directly in the water, our raw almond-ginger-coconut truffles, made with ginger ground at the last moment, and our article can you drink ginger in the evening, which details a preparation made with infused slices.
🫚 Ethics, quality and social development
Grown mainly in China and Asia, our ginger comes instead from the island of Madagascar. It is produced to strict organic standards and goes even further: every batch is traceable, analysed and guaranteed free from pesticides and plant protection residues. To find out more about what sets quality organic ginger apart, we have devoted an article to the question.
Floribis wants, as few companies do in Madagascar, the farmers with whom it builds lasting partnerships to be able to make a decent living from their crops. Unfortunately, even in organic farming there are still many abuses in Madagascar, and some farmers work in very difficult conditions.
Floribis is creating, at its own scale, a virtuous circle of jobs and sustainable economic development in the region (find out more in the "sourcing" tab).
The sensation of heat (pseudo-heat) felt when eating ginger is due to the presence of shogaol, paradol and zingerone, its main aromatic compounds.

🫚 Heat on the palate
Its pungent, distinctive flavour gives an immediate sensation of heat on the palate. A slice in a herbal tea with honey and a few drops of lemon remains, even today, a classic - you will find all our recipe ideas in the "How to use" tab.

Frequently asked questions
How many slices of dried ginger should you use for an infusion or a dish?
Allow around 2 to 3 slices, i.e. 3 to 5 g, for a cup of hot water infused for 5 to 10 minutes. For a sauce, a stock or a slow-cooked dish, adjust the quantity to your taste and grind more slices if you want a more pronounced flavour.
How do you grind dried ginger slices?
A spice grinder or a mortar is all you need: grind only the number of slices required, just before use, to enjoy an intact aroma. That is the whole point of this format compared with ready-ground powder, which loses its aromas faster once the bag is open.
What is the difference between sliced ginger and ground ginger?
The slices keep their aromas for longer because they are ground as needed; they can also be infused (and removed after use), which a powder does not allow. Our organic dehydrated raw ginger powder remains ideal when you are looking for a ready-to-use format, to sprinkle straight on. Both come from the same Floribis supply chain in Madagascar.
How do you store the bag of dried ginger after opening?
At room temperature, in a cool, dry place, away from light. Reseal the kraft bag well or transfer the slices to an airtight container to limit moisture and preserve the aromas for as long as possible.
Where does Biovie ginger come from and how is it produced?
It is grown in Madagascar by Floribis, a partner we work with directly. Every batch is organic, traceable, analysed and guaranteed free from pesticides and plant protection residues - you will find all the details about this producer in the "Sourcing" tab.
Can dried ginger be eaten during pregnancy or with anticoagulant treatment?
Scientific data remain limited on ginger consumption during pregnancy, and some sources mention a possible interaction with anticoagulant treatments. In both cases, ask your doctor, midwife or pharmacist for advice before regular consumption or consumption in large quantities.
Can you eat dried ginger every day?
As part of a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, dried ginger can be a regular part of your cooking or your infusions - each at their own pace, without excess. If you have any doubt related to your personal situation (pregnancy, medical treatment), consult a healthcare professional.
