Organic ginger slices - low temperature dried
Dried sliced ginger, raw and organic quality, 200 g
Dried ginger slices from organic farming
Biovie's organic dried sliced ginger is a root of Zingiber officinale harvested in Madagascar, dried at a low temperature (40°C) to preserve its flavors, and sold without additives or added sugar. Traceable to the producer Floribis, it is suitable for both infusion and cooking, and can be ground on demand for maximum freshness.
Ginger is a rhizome of the family of Zingiberaceae, primarily used in cooking for its spicy, invigorating, lemony, and distinctive flavor. It has also been used in traditional alternative medicine for over 5000 years, particularly in Asia. It is part of many spice blends and is now widely spread in our European culinary world.
🫚 Slices for better preservation
We offer you this organic ginger in "slices" format:
This unique format allows the aromas to be preserved longer than with powdered ginger. You can grind it at the very last moment and instantly enjoy the freshness and strength of its aroma - for example, use 2 to 3 slices, or about 3 to 5 g, for a cup of infusion. The slices can also be infused in a cup of hot water, as well as in a sauce or broth, in an oil, etc. You can then retrieve them: it's much more convenient than with powder! Moreover, if you prefer a format ready to sprinkle directly into your dishes, we also offer our organic raw dehydrated ginger powder - The two formats complement each other according to your uses.
Ginger is dried at a low temperature (40°C) to retain all of its properties.
🫚 Our recipe ideas with sliced ginger
To inspire you, find on our blog recipes that use this dried slice format: our ginger and lemon water, where the slices are infused directly into the water, our raw almond-ginger-coconut truffles, prepared with freshly ground ginger, and our article can you drink ginger in the evening, which precisely details a preparation based on infused slices.
🫚 Ethics, quality, and social development
Cultivated mainly in China and Asia, our ginger comes from the island of Madagascar. It is produced according to strict organic standards and goes even further: each batch is traceable, analyzed, and guaranteed to be free of pesticides and phytosanitary residues. To learn more about what distinguishes high-quality organic ginger, we dedicated an article to the issue.
Floribis wishes, as few companies do in Madagascar, for the farmers with whom they create sustainable partnerships to be able to make a decent living from their crops. Unfortunately, even in organic farming, there are still many issues in Madagascar, and some farmers work under very difficult conditions.
Floribis is creating a virtuous circle of employment and sustainable economic development in the region on its own scale (learn more in the "sector" tab).
The sensation of heat (pseudo-heat) felt when consuming ginger is due to the presence of shogaol, paradol, and zingerone, its main active compounds.
Here is what research and tradition say about this root, with all the caution that a subject as vast as this deserves:
🫚 Digestive comfort
Ginger is traditionally used to aid digestion and support transit. Frankly, this is the oldest and most documented use of this root - our grandmothers knew what they were doing when they added it to their teas after a heavy meal.
🫚 Nausea and daily comfort
Several studies have focused on ginger for nausea, particularly related to travel or pregnancy. A reference Cochrane review (Viljoen et al., 2014, updated in 2015) concludes that the data remain limited and heterogeneous, but several recent trials lean towards a favorable effect compared to placebo. In concrete terms: it is promising, but not a clinical certainty - and in the case of pregnancy, it is better to discuss it with your midwife or doctor before any regular consumption, as the Cochrane review itself highlights the lack of data on mother-fetus tolerance.
🫚 Menstrual comfort
A double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial (Rahnama and others., 2012, published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 105 participants) observed a statistically significant effect of ginger powder on the intensity and duration of pain in female students suffering from moderate to severe primary dysmenorrhea. The trial involved capsules dosed at 1500 mg/day - a format that we do not market - but it illustrates the interest that research has in this root for menstrual comfort.
🫚 A profile rich in minerals
Dried ginger is naturally a source of potassium, magnesium, and manganese - you can find the details in the "In Practice" tab. And then there's an aspect that's often overlooked: its compounds (gingerols and derivatives) are the subject of in vitro and preclinical research for their antioxidant properties, a field of study still under development but promising.
🫚 Tone and warmth
Its spicy and distinctive flavor provides an immediate warming sensation in the mouth - that's why it's found in so many traditional remedies during cold weather. A slice in a honey tea with a few drops of lemon remains a classic even today - you can find our complete recipe ideas in the "Usage" tab.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many slices of dried ginger should be used for an infusion or a dish ?
Count about 2 to 3 slices, or 3 to 5 grams, for a cup of hot water infused for 5 to 10 minutes. For a sauce, broth, or stew, adjust the quantity according to your taste and grind more slices if you want a stronger flavor.
How to grind dried ginger slices ?
A spice mill or a mortar is sufficient: grind only the necessary amount of slices just before use to enjoy an intact aroma. This is the main advantage of this format compared to pre-ground powder, which loses its aroma more quickly once the packet is opened.
What is the difference between sliced ginger and powdered ginger ?
The slices retain their aromas longer because they are ground on demand; they are also suitable for infusion (they can be removed after use), which a powder does not allow. Our organic raw dehydrated ginger powder remains ideal when you are looking for a ready-to-use format, to sprinkle directly. Both come from the same Floribis supply chain in Madagascar.
How to store the bag of dried ginger after opening ?
At room temperature, in a cool, dry place, away from light. Reseal the kraft bag tightly or transfer the slices to an airtight container to limit moisture and preserve the flavors for as long as possible.
Where does Biovie ginger come from and how is it produced ?
It is cultivated in Madagascar by Floribis, a partner with whom we work directly. Each batch is organic, traceable, analyzed, and guaranteed to be free of pesticides and phytosanitary residues - you will find all the details about this producer in the "Supply Chain" tab.
Is dried ginger consumable during pregnancy or with anticoagulant treatment ?
Ginger is traditionally consumed during pregnancy in many cultures, and some trials suggest a favorable effect on nausea, but scientific data on mother-fetus tolerance remain limited. Additionally, some sources mention a possible interaction with anticoagulant treatments. In both cases, seek advice from your doctor, midwife, or pharmacist before regular or large-quantity consumption.
Can one consume dried ginger every day ?
As part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, dried ginger can be regularly incorporated into your cooking or infusions - each at their own pace, without excess. If you have any doubts related to your personal situation (pregnancy, medical treatment), consult a healthcare professional.
