SPANISH AVOCADO HONEY

🍯 The unique features of our avocado blossom honey

This liquid honey is quite thick, with a dark color featuring brown-red tones, a subtle floral aroma, and a strong fruity taste. Very syrupy, it resembles caramel! We selected this honey for its unique character that stands out from traditional honeys, with its lingering aromas and less sweet taste, it will not leave you indifferent.

It is raw and unprocessed from hive to jar.

The 1kg format ensures you never run out and offers a very competitive price.

Avocado honey crystallizes little. However, this can happen depending on storage conditions, and this phenomenon is normal. It also proves that it hasn't been heated!

🍯 Honey in everyday cooking

Ideal for enhancing your muesli or smoothie, for elevating a pastry or morning toast. It is perfect for sweetening your infusions. Or even for preparing delicious sweet and savory dishes.

🍯 An award-winning honey in Spain

This avocado honey won first prize at the honey competition in the Malaga region and was recognized as the best avocado honey in 2022 by the National Congress of Spanish Beekeepers.
Congratulations to the producers!

The honey is harvested from various beekeepers located about 20km around the packaging facility.

🍯 Our recipes with honey

Specifically, this dark and less sweet honey can be added to a warm drink or a plant-based yogurt. Here are the blog recipes where raw honey finds its place, most often added at the end of preparation to keep it raw:

Ginger and lemon water: honey is optional, to sweeten the drink once the infusion has cooled.

Flavored water: 10 homemade recipes: the strawberry and basil version accepts a teaspoon of raw honey, added after the infusion.

Ginger lemon shot: recipe, quantities, and tips: with a variant using a teaspoon of raw honey.

Homemade plant-based coconut-pomegranate yogurt: to be adapted in a vanilla and raw honey version.

Fermented garlic in honey: recipe and precautions: the complete recipe, with unpasteurized raw honey.

🍯 To serve it without making a mess, our handcrafted olive wood honey spoon is made for that.

Honey is a natural sweetener composed of about 80% glucose and fructose.

The sweetening power of honey is stronger than that of sugar: therefore, less is needed to sweeten your preparations. > To give you an idea, 70g of honey is enough to replace 100g of sugar.

Miel y Solo Miel S.L

Located in Colmenar in the Malaga region, Miel y Solo Miel is a small structure dedicated to the production, packaging, and marketing of high-quality natural honey and other hive-derived products (propolis, royal jelly, honey candies...).
Formerly a cooperative, they have retained this mindset and work with a gathering of small beekeepers in southern Spain, located within about twenty kilometers around their premises, rigorously selected for the quality of their practices and therefore for the quality of the honey.
Thanks to quality control processes, both internal and external, they preserve the original properties of the different honeys and their typicities.

Miel y Solo Miel is a careful selection of Spanish beekeepers who work in an eco-responsible manner, packaging pure bee honey, 100% natural, without any type of processing or additives, quality control, and distribution of these exceptional products. They work their products entirely by hand.

🍯 Your questions about avocado honey

My avocado honey has crystallized: is this normal, and how can I make it liquid again?

Yes, it's normal: crystallization is a natural phenomenon related to glucose, and even though avocado honey crystallizes little, it can happen depending on storage conditions. To make it liquid again, place the closed jar in a warm water bath, not exceeding about 40°C, stirring occasionally. Honestly, it's consistent with raw honey, which hasn't been heated.

How much honey is needed to replace 100g of sugar?

About 70g of honey is enough to replace 100g of sugar, as honey has a stronger sweetening power. In a cake or cream, also consider reducing the other liquids in the recipe a bit, since honey itself adds liquid. This avocado honey is a bit less sweet on the palate than others, so adjust to taste.

Can avocado honey be heated in a drink or recipe?

Yes, but to keep it as close to raw as possible, it's better to add it at the end of preparation, when the infusion or drink is warm rather than boiling. This is the principle of our ginger and lemon water, where honey is added once the infusion has cooled. In baking, it withstands cooking very well, it's mostly a matter of taste and texture.

What is the difference between avocado honey and orange blossom honey?

Avocado honey is quite thick, dark in color with brown-red tones, very syrupy, with a subtle floral aroma and a strong fruity taste reminiscent of caramel. The orange blossom honey, from the same Andalusian supplier, is liquid, amber yellow, with a floral and fruity flavor. Both are available in 1 kg jars, you can find them in our range of honeys.

In which recipes can avocado honey be used?

It sweetens infusions, muesli, smoothies, toast, and pastries very well, and it also pairs with sweet and savory dishes. For blog recipes, try the strawberry and basil flavored water with a teaspoon of raw honey, or the vanilla and raw honey version of the coconut-pomegranate plant-based yogurt.

Has this avocado honey been awarded?

Yes. It won first prize at the honey competition in the Malaga region and was recognized as the best avocado honey in 2022 by the National Congress of Spanish Beekeepers.

How to store raw honey, and for how long?

This honey is stored at room temperature and dry, in its well-sealed glass jar. The minimum durability date is 24 months.

From what age can honey be given to a child?

Honey should not be given to children under one year old, this is the recommendation of health authorities for all honeys, raw or not. After that, it can be part of a varied and balanced diet, in moderation since it remains a sugar. In case of a particular situation, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Where does this avocado honey come from and who produces it?

It comes from southern Spain, from the Malaga region. It is produced and packaged by Miel y Solo Miel in Colmenar, a small structure that works with beekeepers located about 20 km around its packaging facility.
