Organic Spelt Sprouting Seeds
(From the variety Farro)
Spelt grass, produced from our organic sprouting farro seeds, is a young and tender grass reminiscent of wheat, with rapid and vigorous growth. When cut and pressed with a juicer, it yields an intense green juice, rich in chlorophyll, in minerals and phytochemical compounds. This grass juice has been a cornerstone of the historical program at the Hippocrates Institute, an American pioneer in living foods, for nearly 70 years.
⚠️ Important information about gluten: Spelt (farro variety) is a cereal related to wheat, and the grain therefore contains gluten. The juice is traditionally considered to be very low in gluten, as it is extracted from the young shoot before the formation of the ear - but in the absence of specific analysis on our batches, we cannot guarantee a zero content. In case of celiac disease or gluten intolerance, seek advice from a healthcare professional before any consumption.
🌾 What are the benefits of consuming wheatgrass ?
Young spelt sprouts contain a real nutritional density: trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and antioxidant compounds, as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Spelt grass juice is a natural source of chlorophyll, the pigment that gives it its intense green color - it is what makes the visual and taste uniqueness of this juice, far from a classic vegetable juice.
Spelt grass juice offers a mild and slightly sweet flavor, less pronounced than that of traditional wheatgrass, making it a great introduction to grass juices for those looking to diversify their habits.
🌾 How to consume wheat grains ?
To fully benefit from the qualities of spelt, we recommend sprouting the seeds, then cutting the shoots just above the seed to pass them through a juicer. If the flavor of the juice is too strong for your taste, you can soften it by mixing it with a vegetable juice or a plant-based drink (almond, rice...) either homemade or store-bought.
Germination advice Soaking: 8 to 12 hours Germination: approximately 48 hours.
After germination, plant your spelt seeds in light soil and harvest your sprouts when they reach a nice green height (about 10 cm) - usually in the first week after planting.
For regular and optimized production of spelt grass, the automatic sprouter Easygreen Light is ideal. For a more moderate cultivation, our standalone sprouters Easygreen Sol or your traditional sprouters work perfectly and remain easy to use.
If you don't have anyJuicer, we advise you to use our dehydrated barley grass powder or our dehydrated barley grass juice powder.

🌾 Its benefits (as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle):
• Spelt is one of the most nutritionally interesting ancient grains, with a great diversity of minerals and trace elements. It is particularly rich in iron, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, copper, and zinc (see details in the "Practical" tab). Iron helps reduce fatigue and supports the normal functioning of the immune system; magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and helps reduce fatigue; zinc supports the normal functioning of the immune system - as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
• Its content of B vitamins, particularly B1 (thiamine) and B3 (niacin), is notable: these vitamins contribute to the normal functioning of energy metabolism and the nervous system.
• Its high concentration in chlorophyll gives spelt grass juice its characteristic intense green color - it is the natural pigment of the young sprout.
• Spelt is rich in dietary fiber (more than 10 g per 100 g of raw grain), which can contribute to digestive comfort as part of a varied and balanced diet.
• The organic production of spelt ensures cultivation without synthetic pesticides, in accordance with the standards of organic farming.
