Organic Unhulled Buckwheat Seeds for Sprouting
🌱 Known as "black wheat," buckwheat is not a cereal in the botanical sense, although its use is similar, especially since it contains no gluten.
This buckwheat is unhulled and intended for the production of young shoots in trays with the Easygreen Light or the Easygreen Sol, or on "canteen" trays with potting soil. Jar production is not possible: these seeds are meant to produce young shoots, not sprouted seeds.
🌱 Green buckwheat shoots allow you to regularly enjoy a delicious homemade salad.
> Soaking: 4 hours. Hulled buckwheat produces a slimy pectin when rinsed, making it difficult to sprout, but success is guaranteed with the Easygreen!
> Germination: The hulls detach from the 10th day, similar to sunflower. The germination of this seed is more delicate than others. During germination, the seeds must never dry out. As soon as the seeds open, the seedlings require significant air renewal, and you can place them outside in the open air for better yield.

Frankly, this seed is cultivated a bit like sunflower (the sheet itself says so for the hulls): our article on organic unhulled sunflower shoots gives a good idea of growing young shoots, and the guide on sprouted seeds at home completes it all.
A useful clarification: these unhulled seeds are intended for young shoots. The granola, porridge, or cracker recipes on the blog use hulled buckwheat, like our activated organic buckwheat seeds (sprouted then dried, ready to munch on). Here are the blog recipes:
Raw buckwheat porridge with vanilla and dates: with hulled buckwheat soaked overnight (about 100 g of dry seeds).
Raw vegan granola, gluten and soy-free: with 100 g of soaked and dehydrated buckwheat.
Raw carrot and sprouted buckwheat crackers: with 300 g of sprouted, rinsed buckwheat seeds.
🌱 Its composition:
• Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is not a cereal; its seeds are naturally gluten-free.
• The detailed nutritional composition of the seeds and young shoots is available in the producer's technical sheet.

🌱 Your questions about sprouting buckwheat
Can this buckwheat be sprouted in a jar?
No, jar production is not possible: these unhulled seeds are intended to produce young shoots, not sprouted seeds. They are cultivated in trays in the Easygreen, or on "canteen" trays with potting soil.
How to cultivate young buckwheat shoots?
Soak for 4 hours. Hulled buckwheat produces a slimy pectin when rinsed, making it difficult to sprout, but success is guaranteed with the Easygreen. The hulls detach from the 10th day, similar to sunflower. During germination, the seeds must never dry out, and as soon as they open, the seedlings require significant air renewal: you can place them in the open air for better yield.
Why is buckwheat germination considered more delicate?
Because this seed is more delicate than others: it must never dry out during germination, and its seedlings need a lot of air. That's why we recommend it with a sprouter like the Easygreen.
Which sprouter to use for buckwheat shoots?
The Easygreen Light or the Easygreen Sol, or trays with potting soil. To compare options, see our article What is the best sprouter?.
Is buckwheat a cereal, and does it contain gluten?
Known as "black wheat," buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is not a cereal in the botanical sense, although its use is similar. Its seeds are naturally gluten-free.
Can these seeds be used for granola or porridge?
These unhulled seeds are intended to produce young shoots. The raw recipes on the blog use hulled buckwheat, like our activated organic buckwheat seeds, used for example in raw granola or raw buckwheat porridge.
In what formats is this buckwheat sold and how long does it last?
In 500 g doypack or 5 kg bag. The minimum durability date is 3 years after the production date.
