The Tikawa Focus Pack is our organic lupin coffee enriched with Lion's Mane extract, designed for those who want to keep the coffee ritual without caffeine. It combines our Tikawa Classique - a genuine roasted organic lupin coffee, produced in Bavaria by our partner Loffee - with our organic water-soluble 10:1 concentrated Lion's Mane extract. The principle is simple: on receipt, you mix the two pouches once. Then you use the blend exactly like a classic Tikawa - in an espresso machine, moka pot or filter - and the water-soluble extract is naturally released into the cup during brewing.
🍄 Why combine Tikawa and Lion's Mane?
Tikawa and Lion's Mane are two ingredients with very different origins - Bavarian farmland for one, Japanese Buddhist monasteries for the other - but they have one thing in common: they are consumed without caffeine. Tikawa brings its long roasting and its complex, coffee-like aroma. The water-soluble Lion's Mane extract blends into the cup without changing its taste.
> Step 1: prepare the blend (once only, on receipt)
On receipt of the pack, prepare your Tikawa Focus blend:
- Pour the 72 g pouch of Lion's Mane extract into the 720 g pouch of Tikawa
- Close the pouch and shake vigorously for 30 seconds (or pour both pouches into a larger container and mix.)
- Leave to stand for 2 minutes, then shake again before first use.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from light, in the resealable Tikawa pouch.
You obtain 792 g of Tikawa Focus blend enriched with 10% Lion's Mane extract, ready to use for 2 to 3 months of daily consumption.

> Step 2: prepare your cup (every day, like a normal coffee)
The Tikawa Focus blend is prepared exactly like a classic Tikawa. The grounds are coarser and heavier than coffee grounds - they also swell more, because of the protein content of the lupin seed (about 40%).
So reduce the quantities accordingly:
- Filter / French press : use 20% less grounds than for your traditional coffee.
- Moka pot : use about 50-65 % of the usual quantity (by volume).
- Espresso machine : for Tikawa Classique, a manual espresso machine is recommended.
During brewing, the hot water passes through the grounds and the (water-soluble) Lion's Mane extract dissolves naturally into your cup, while the lupin grounds stay in the filter. This is exactly the principle used by the best filter mushroom coffees on the market.
🍄 Why is the water-soluble extract form essential for this pack?
The water-soluble 10:1 Lion's Mane extract is ten times more concentrated than the classic powder - 1 g of extract is equivalent to about 10 g of raw material. But above all, its water-soluble nature is the key to how the pack works : while your Tikawa is brewing, the hot water passes through the grounds and carries the extract into the cup, while the insoluble lupin particles are held back by the filter. A classic Lion's Mane powder would not pass through the filter - it would stay with the grounds. This is what sets this extract apart from the other forms available on the market.
🍄 Other uses for the blend?
If you do not use a coffee maker, the Tikawa Focus blend can also be prepared as a direct infusion in the cup (1 tablespoon + hot water + 3-4 minutes' infusion + straining through a sieve if you prefer no sediment), or added to latte, smoothie or cold drink recipes. 🍄 Recommended dosage
- Target daily dose of extract : 1 g per day. Depending on your preparation method, you will obtain between 0.5 and 0.9 g of extract per cup (filter/French press ≈ 0.5 g, moka pot or espresso ≈ 0.7-0.9 g), i.e. 1 to 2 cups per day for about 1 g.
- Maximum : do not exceed 30 g of blend per day (≈ 3 g of extract).
- Tikawa : caffeine-free, acid-free, you can drink it at any time, including in the evening.
- When to drink it : any time. Neither Lion's Mane nor Tikawa contains caffeine - both can be consumed throughout the day, including in the evening.
- Duration : daily culinary use without limitation.
Precautions for use : Not recommended in case of lupin allergy (major EU allergen - possible cross-reactions with peanuts in about one in five allergic people). Not recommended in case of mushroom allergy. If you are undergoing medical treatment, ask your healthcare professional for advice. Not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women due to a lack of data on Lion's Mane. Tikawa is naturally gluten-free and produced in a gluten-free facility - lupin is a legume, not a cereal.
➡️ Recipe 1: The morning Focus espresso
The most authentic way to enjoy Tikawa Focus: an espresso prepared in a manual machine. The Lion's Mane extract is naturally released into the cup during brewing.
For 1 cup - Preparation time: 2 minutes
Ingredients:
- one dose of Tikawa Focus blend (following your machine's recommendations - reduce the quantity compared with classic coffee, as lupin swells)
- sweetener of your choice (optional)
Method:
- Load your machine's portafilter with one dose of Tikawa Focus blend. Remember to use less grounds than with classic coffee.
- Start brewing. The hot water passes through the grounds and releases the Lion's Mane extract into the cup, while the lupin grounds remain filtered out.
- Sweeten if you wish, and enjoy immediately.
➡️ Recipe 2: The Focus latte (filter/French press)
A longer, milder version, to be enjoyed without hurrying.
For 1 large cup (≈ 250 ml)
Ingredients:
- one dose of Tikawa Focus blend for filter/French press preparation (-20% compared with classic coffee)
- 200 ml of simmering water (~85°C)
- 50 ml of hot plant milk (tiger nut or hemp)
- 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
Method:
- Prepare your Tikawa Focus in a filter or French press using your usual method. The Lion's Mane extract passes directly into the brew.
- Pour into the cup, add the hot plant milk on top.
- Sweetener and cinnamon to taste. Stir and enjoy.
➡️ Recipe 3: The cold Focus smoothie (summer)
For this cold version, first prepare a Tikawa Focus cold brew the day before, then make the smoothie in the morning.
Ingredients:
- 100 ml of strong, chilled Tikawa Focus (cold brew)
- 1 very ripe banana
- 200 ml of cold plant milk
- 1 teaspoon of raw cacao powder (optional)
- a few ice cubes
Blend everything for 30 seconds in a blender. Serve immediately.
> For the cold brew: pour 2 tablespoons of Tikawa Focus blend into 250 ml of cold water, leave to infuse for 8 to 12 hours in the fridge, then strain.

Tikawa is a roasted hot drink made from blue sweet lupin from Bavarian organic farming. Lupin is a legume that is naturally gluten-free. The "blue sweet" variety used by Loffee stands out for its very low bitterness - which gives Tikawa its rich body and natural mildness.
🍄 Lion's Mane: the mushroom of Buddhist monks
Lion's Mane has been eaten for more than a thousand years in Asia. The yamabushi Buddhist monks - the ascetics of the Japanese mountains - used to eat it, hence its Japanese name yamabushitake.

The Tikawa Focus Pack brings together two supply chains of excellence on two continents : Tikawa, produced in Bavaria by our German partner Loffee from organic Bavarian lupins, and the Lion's Mane extract, produced in China in Gutian district. Here is an introduction to each.
☕ Our Tikawa supplier: Loffee, a Biovie partnership since 2022
Tikawa is the work of a partnership between Biovie and the German company Loffee, run by Simon and Jan. Both come from the coffee industry: their know-how, acquired throughout their professional careers refining the finest raw coffees, is now put to work developing and producing their products based on roasted organic lupin. We discovered this brand in 2022 and adopted Tikawa for everyday use at Biovie.
Thanks to their many years of experience, Simon and Jan have learned and mastered the art of roasting. They know that complex aromas need time to develop fully. Their roasted lupins are handled with as much care as the finest traditional coffees. Their expertise and the technical equipment at their disposal convinced us to work with them and to offer their products in our shop.
The lupins come from Bavarian organic farming. They are grown, harvested and processed practically on their doorstep. The entire harvesting and manufacturing process for the roasted lupin coffee is transparent. It is also worth noting that their whole team is properly paid and that nobody has to work in inhumane conditions - which unfortunately is not always the case in the conventional coffee industry.
For roasting, Loffee uses exclusively blue sweet lupins, a variety with an above-average protein content (about 40%) and very little bitterness. That is why their lupin coffee is so pleasantly sweet and has so much body.
The lupin seeds are roasted in two small drum roasters for nearly 30 minutes at a maximum of 180-200°C. This slow, gentle roasting - unlike fast industrial roasting - gives the seeds time to develop complex aromas and a fine toasted note.
Tikawa is produced in a gluten-free facility - an additional guarantee for people who are gluten-intolerant or gluten-sensitive.

Biovie searched at length for a serious and internationally competitive supplier of Ecocert-certified mushrooms, including our organic water-soluble Lion's Mane extract.
Our organic Lion's Mane mushrooms are produced in Gutian district, Fujian province, China, the historic international flagship of Asian mushroom production. Gutian has been recognised for decades as a centre of excellence for mushroom cultivation, where the best know-how and the most demanding quality standards in the sector are concentrated.
Our crops are located far from the pollution of cities, in preserved areas where the air and water are of good quality. This location is essential for a mushroom like Lion's Mane, which captures and concentrates elements from its environment.
Our supplier is mainly dedicated to producing natural extracts from mushrooms - in particular Cordyceps militaris, Lion's Mane, and other varieties of mushrooms. The company is recognised for its in-depth expertise in growing, extracting and processing fungal materials. Their premises have more than 20 tank reactors, a GMP-compliant API production line and several state-of-the-art analytical machines.
The company also has a 4,600 m² workshop for high-quality plant extracts, equipped with numerous facilities, including three 6-tonne multifunctional extraction tanks, a high-efficiency concentration tower, a resin adsorption column and a spray-drying tower.

The water-soluble 10:1 extraction process
The water-soluble 10:1 extract is obtained by hot water decoction of the dried Lion's Mane, followed by filtration, vacuum concentration and spray-drying. This process uses no chemical solvent - only water - and preserves the integrity of heat-sensitive compounds. The 10:1 ratio means that 10 kilos of raw material are needed to obtain 1 kilo of concentrated extract.

Does the Tikawa Focus Pack really replace coffee?
Yes, that is precisely the use it was designed for. Tikawa Classique is an organic lupin coffee roasted at 180-200°C that develops complex aromas very close to coffee (roasted, chocolatey notes, slight bitterness), without caffeine and without acidity. 78% of Biovie customers who tried Tikawa enjoyed it from the very first tasting. Does Tikawa contain gluten?
No, Tikawa is naturally gluten-free and produced in a gluten-free facility. It is made exclusively from blue sweet lupin, which is a legume - not a cereal. This is one of the reasons why this coffee alternative is so popular with gluten-intolerant people. However, it does contain lupin, which is a major allergen listed in European regulations: it is not recommended for people allergic to lupin or peanuts (possible cross-reactions in about 1 in 5 allergic people).
Which preparation method should I use for Tikawa Classique?
Tikawa Classique has a medium body and a balanced profile - it suits all preparation methods. For the experience closest to espresso coffee, we recommend the manual espresso machine. For a milder, longer preparation, the filter or French press work very well (use 20% less grounds than for your usual coffee). In a moka pot, use 50 to 65% of the usual quantity to avoid blocking the machine - lupin swells more than coffee.
How much Lion's Mane extract do I get per cup?
It all depends on your preparation method. With the 10% extract blend: in a filter/French press (≈ 6 g of blend), you get about 0.5 g of extract per cup. In a moka pot or espresso (≈ 8-10 g of blend), about 0.8 to 1 g per cup. 1 to 2 cups per day therefore correspond to about 1 g of extract. Maximum 30 g of blend per day (≈ 3 g of extract).
How many cups can I make with the pack?
The pack contains 720 g of Tikawa + 72 g of extract, i.e. 792 g of Tikawa Focus blend once prepared. At about 6 g of blend per cup in a filter/French press (or 8-10 g in a moka pot / espresso), you get between 80 and 130 cups. At 1 cup/day, the pack covers about 3 to 4 months of daily consumption. At 2 cups/day, about 6 to 8 weeks.
Will the Lion's Mane change the taste of the Tikawa?
Very little. The taste of the water-soluble Lion's Mane extract is neutral to slightly nutty/umami, and it blends perfectly into the roasted, chocolatey profile of Tikawa Classique. Most users notice no significant difference in taste.
Can I buy the two products separately?
Yes, Tikawa Classique and the Lion's Mane extract are also available individually on biovie.fr. The Focus pack is simply more economical: you receive both together for 2 to 3 months of daily consumption, pre-blended and ready to use.
