Fresh organic dulse seaweed, in 1kg or 500g packs

(Palmaria Palmata)

🌿 The earliest traces of culinary use of the red seaweed Dulse (palmaria palmata) date back 1,400 years! This wild seaweed grows abundantly in the Atlantic and North Pacific and is harvested from June to October.

Its unique taste close to hazelnut, mild and slightly peppery, will beautifully flavour and decorate your salads, sauces and soups..

It will also let you easily make delicious and original seaweed tartares. As the seaweed is preserved in salt, it softens more quickly and becomes more crumbly after a few months. But we are sure you will not need to keep it for 6 months!

Desalting : your seaweed is preserved in salt. Take the desired amount of seaweed to eat straight away in a salad or in another recipe. Soak it briefly in water for a first desalting. Rinse, then discard the water. Then leave it to soak for two to three minutes in a sufficient amount of water. Rinse.
If the seaweed still tastes too salty, rinse it a third time.

🌿 Its particularities:

The detailed nutritional composition of dulse is given in the nutritional data sheet from the Centre d'Étude et de Valorisation des Algues (CEVA) below. It is nicknamed "bacon of the sea" because of its colour and smoky taste.

True to our values of transparency and integrity, we wanted to show you the whole process on video, from harvest to your plate.

Hand-harvested on the foreshore: April to November.

Best before: 28/02/2025

- Storage : in the fridge

- Delivery: Seaweed is shipped on a just-in-time basis, so a few extra days are sometimes needed to process your order, depending on the day we are restocked. Seaweed easily withstands several days in transit without refrigeration, even in hot weather, thanks to its salt-bath packaging.

You receive an email on the day your parcel leaves, then your tracking number the following day.

Seaweed sometimes releases a little water during transport, despite double zip packaging. This is rare, but if your box arrives damp, it is not a problem: please accept your parcel and contact us by email so we can sort it out. In 10 years we have always found an amicable solution, but refusing fresh goods means the goods are lost, and we would like to avoid that situation.
