Organic Irish Moss Algae Powder, 250g

    (Chondrus crispus)

🪸 Irish moss, or Irish sea moss, is a red algae scientifically named Chondrus crispus. Although it is traditionally harvested in the North Atlantic (notably in Ireland, from which it gets its name), its cultivation has spread to other regions, including China. In China, this algae is known as "sheng chái" and has been used in traditional medicine for over 2,000 years for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In Europe, its use dates back to antiquity, where coastal communities, particularly the Celts, incorporated it into their diet.

The process of making Irish moss powder is very simple. It is a raw powder. There are no other complicated processes. Irish moss is directly dried in a dryer, then ground. This results in Irish moss powder.

In cooking, Irish moss is prized for its Natural gelling properties. His neutral taste allows it to be easily integrated into various culinary preparations without masking other flavors. It is Often used in soups, sauces, and broths to add depth to recipes. Its natural thickening power makes it ideal for smoothies, creams, and even some pastry preparations.. Its extract, carrageenan, is commonly used in the food industry to improve the texture of various products.

🪸 How to prepare it ?

    > For raw dessertsSoak 5 to 10g of Irish moss in 1 cup of water, and place everything in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Let it soak for 1 to 3 days. When you're ready to use it, drain the water (but do not rinse it under the tap). Add a new cup of water and blend with a blender to obtain a paste, which you can store in a jar in the refrigerator for up to a week. Incorporate the paste into your recipe to achieve a light and fluffy mousse or pie filling, or add it to smoothies.

    > For soups and sauces: Simply add the powder to your preparation (about 1 teaspoon for a liter of hot water)
