A superfood is a food that is considered to have a particularly high nutrient content, such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and essential fatty acids. They are therefore considered superior compared to other staple foods because their nutritional content has more significant beneficial effects (and also because unfortunately the soils in our regions have become greatly depleted in vitamins and minerals...).

> They are often considered beneficial for health also due to their ability to prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and mental illnesses.

> Superfoods help us "hold on" during difficult life periods, especially in winter.

Superfoods are often confused with synthetic dietary supplements. But the nutrients present in superfoods are naturally found in plants, without any addition, concentration, extraction, or other processing.

> Among fruits, for example, there are also many superfruits, such as blueberries, pomegranates, or the fabulous açaí berries. A rule to remember for fruits is that the more they stain, the better! Indeed, plant pigments very often contain powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that protect the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals, unstable molecules produced during the body's normal metabolism and when exposed to environmental factors such as pollution, smoking, and UV rays. Antioxidants help prevent cellular damage caused by free radicals, which can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Nature has provided us with certain superfoods with exceptional medicinal properties:

> Klamath algae is considered one of the best superfoods on the planet, particularly for its exceptional nutrient and antioxidant content, its high content of phenylethylamine (PEA), a substance that can help boost mood and cognitive function, and its protective role in cardiovascular health thanks to the presence of omega-3. Klamath also contains numerous polysaccharides (fucoidan, laminarin, carrageenan...) that help strengthen immunity.

> Spirulina takes second place behind Klamath. Very rich in plant proteins and appreciated by people who consume little or no animal products, spirulina has an impact on cardiovascular health, brain health (notably thanks to phenylethylamine (PEA)), strengthening the immune system, aiding detoxification thanks to its antioxidants, eye health, and more.

> Barley grass juice in powder form, or as fresh juice, is a superfood particularly rich in chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Barley grass juice allows for gentle detoxification as it stimulates liver and kidney functions.

> Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis), the mushroom of vital energy and endurance, a major tonic of Tibetan pharmacopoeia, acts at the heart of the mitochondria where ATP is produced in each cell.

> Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus), "lion's mane", the mushroom of concentration and mental clarity, is the only one known to date to stimulate the production of NGF (nerve growth factor).

> Pollen is a superfood remarkably rich in polysaccharides, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, helping to strengthen the immune defenses. Additionally, pollen is composed of 20 to 30% highly bioavailable and superior quality proteins.

> Pomegranates are very rich in antioxidants and ellagic acid, which has been associated with a reduced risk of cancer.

> Açaí powder is very rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids, boosts energy, supports the immune system, and contributes to radiant skin and better overall health.

> Raw cacao, rich in antioxidants, promotes cardiovascular health and improves mood thanks to its brain-stimulating compounds.

Take them regularly and in small doses (especially at the beginning), note their cumulative effects, understand how they work in your body, and soon you will see them as friends. You will know which one to take when you need energy and which one to take to calm yourself. The one you need for a cold and the one you need for going out in the evening!
Superfoods will become like armor, a toolbox that you can use to stay in shape all the time.
