Ecofiltro 5 L Light Blue: The Color of Water, the Same Clay Filter

Light blue is a natural choice for an object dedicated to water. It complements kitchens with cool tones, blue or white tiles, seaside-inspired interiors, and softens a room dominated by stainless steel and gray.

As with every color in the 5 L range, the blue only concerns the exterior of the enameled steel container. The clay filtering element is identical, as is the capacity, and the flow rate does not vary from one color to another. You can therefore choose solely based on your decor.

The Essentials in Brief

What the Filter Retains, What It Does Not

I like to clearly state the limits of a product as well as its qualities. The Ecofiltro is designed for tap water, meaning water that is already potable to begin with. On this water, it acts on particles, bacteria, parasites, microplastics, PFAS, and drug residues, with the results indicated above. For metals, the analyses from May 2023 published by the manufacturer show: cadmium, lead, mercury, and manganese completely eliminated; arsenic reduced by 63%; fluoride reduced by 26%.

However, it does not remove limescale: it significantly reduces its content, which is not the same thing. It is not suitable for saltwater, unsanitary water, or hot water, as temperature degrades filtration quality. For rainwater or well water, first have your own laboratory analyses conducted.

Light Blue in Daily Life

Standing 30 cm tall with a diameter of 22 cm, the light blue filter fits on a countertop, a serving cart, or a buffet. Empty, it weighs 1 kg. It requires no electrical power or connection: a flat and stable surface is sufficient, with the stainless steel tap protruding from the edge. If you prefer to fill glasses and bottles more comfortably, the Ecofiltro wooden elevating stand places it a bit higher.

Under the Blue Enamel: Clay, Charcoal, Silver

Water descends by gravity through a clay wall with pores measuring a maximum of 0.8 micrometers. The activated charcoal in the wall reduces odors, undesirable flavors, and turbidity. A secondary barrier is provided by colloidal silver, applied once the clay is fired. The metal container protects the entire unit from shocks.

Start-Up and Cleaning

Install the clay by holding it by the edges, fill it to the brim, then let the water flow for a few hours. Never let it dry out afterward. The first filtrations, which often have an earthy taste, should be discarded. For maintenance, once every six months: a sponge reserved for this sole use and pure water for the clay, soap and a brush for the blue reservoir, lid, and tap.
