Ecofiltro 20 L white: the large size, in a light shade

The white 20 L is aimed at households that use a lot of water and want an appliance that does not stand out too much despite its size. At 47 cm high and 35 cm in diameter, it is a visible object: in white, it blends more easily into a light kitchen, a break room or a reception area with white walls.

White and black are the two colours available in this size, and they are fitted with exactly the same clay filter element. Capacity, flow rate and lifespan are identical: the difference is purely visual.

The essentials at a glance

For families and offices

The 20 L size really comes into its own as soon as several people use the same tap: a family with children, a shared flat, a practice, a small team. Its large 15 L reservoir lets you keep a supply of filtered water ready to use while the upper part continues to filter. Empty, it weighs 4 kg; once filled, it becomes heavy, so you need to find it a permanent spot before filling it, on a flat, solid surface.

In an office, the absence of electricity and connections makes things simpler: no need to call in an installer, all it takes is a table or a stable piece of furniture and someone who remembers to fill it.

How often to fill it?

The upper part holds 5 L. Once the filter is broken in, at around 2 L per hour, you should therefore allow roughly two and a half hours for it to empty into the reservoir. The simplest thing is to get into a habit: fill the top in the morning, then again at the end of the day depending on consumption. During the first three weeks, the flow rate is lower (around 1 L per hour): plan a small additional supply of water during the break-in period.

The filtration principle

Tap water flows down by gravity through fired clay. Its pores, of 0.8 micrometres at most, block bacteria, parasites and particles. The activated carbon in the wall corrects flavour, odours and turbidity. The final element, colloidal silver applied after firing, completes the system; on this large model, the dose applied is 0.42 litres. Limescale is reduced, not removed.

Receipt, start-up and maintenance

A tip specific to this size: check that the clay element is intact before opening its bag. A broken filter whose bag has been opened cannot be refunded. Then install it holding it by the rims, fill it completely and never let it dry out again. The first batches of water, which taste of clay, should be poured away. Every six months, wash the clay in pure water with a sponge reserved for this purpose, and the white container, the lid and the tap with a brush and soap.

An organisation born to provide access to water

The project, initially funded solely by donations, could not grow. In 2000, Ecofiltro therefore took the form of a non-profit organisation, then in 2009 became a socially responsible company, whose production has since spread to other countries. Buying a large size for your home or office contributes to this model.

The 20 L is shipped directly by the manufacturer to avoid handling, in a separate parcel, with tracking sent by email. Delivery included to Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, mainland France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
