Whole tiger nuts from organic and fair trade agriculture in partnership with Tigernuts

The whole tiger nut is the tuber of the plant. Cyperus esculentus, dried and preserved in its original form. Naturally sweet taste reminiscent of hazelnut, with a crunchy and fleshy texture. Specifically, it is in this raw form that this tuber retains the maximum of its nutritional properties and is best preserved.

🌾 This ancient tuber, also known as "tiger nut," has been appreciated for centuries for its taste and culinary qualities. It is the fruit of the perennial rhizomatous herbaceous plant called "Chufa" (Cyperus esculentusIt was already adored in Ancient Egypt! Highly appreciated in sub-Saharan Africa and Spain - where it is used to make the famous "horchata de chufa" -, its uniquely sweet taste and crunchy, fleshy texture are reminiscent of hazelnuts or almonds.

🌾 Here's how we use it daily with Aurélie: as a snack to munch on like a dried fruit, or as a natural sweetener for your compotes and desserts. Ground into flour, it perfectly replaces nuts and grains in your pastries, porridges, or pie crusts. And then there's its main use: a plant-based drink homemade, extremely easy to make and much more nutritionally rich than a store-bought pasteurized carton. Honestly, if you consume plant-based milk from a carton, take a look at the label - you'll likely be surprised by the amount of ingredients used for a liter !

Biovie has chosen to import this whole organic tiger nut for reasons of preservation and nutritional quality. It is sourced from fair trade in Niger in partnership with Tigernuts.

Naturally gluten-free and free from peanuts, it provides an interesting solution for people who are allergic or intolerant.

🌾 Its composition:

The tiger nut offers a tasty alternative for those gluten-free diets, without grains, or for people allergic to nuts. Frankly, it's one of the rare ingredients that ticks all these boxes at once - with a real natural sweet taste as a bonus.

It is a better source of omega-9 than olive oil. It also provides vitamins C and E as well as natural antioxidants - to the extent that the cosmetic industry has been interested in it for a long time.

The tiger nut is richer in potassium than the banana, by weight. Its 845 mg per 100 g make it a great natural source of this mineral, as part of a varied and balanced diet.

Rich in fiber (15 g per 100 g) - much more than oats, carrots, or dates. A nutritional profile that is rarely found in a tuber.

Millennial origin: tiger nut was already consumed in Ancient Egypt. Today, it remains a daily food in sub-Saharan Africa and Spain, where the tradition has never been interrupted.
